Outside of my professional work, I volunteer as Head of Marketing & Fundraising for Mainely Rat Rescue, where I use design, storytelling, and social media strategy to help more pocket pets find loving homes.​​​​​​​

ADOPTION THROUGH STORYTELLING 🖤
Harold escaped a pet store and was scheduled to be euthanized before his curiosity was recognized for what it truly was. Partnering with Essex Veterinary Center, I created a social campaign to tell his story and help him find a forever home.
The Outcome
Within 24 hours of sharing Harold's story, a prospective adopter came forward. A few days later, he was home. Today, Harold spends his days exploring hiking trails, cuddling under blankets, and living the life he almost never had.

Recognizing an opportunity to expand Mainely Rat Rescue's educational content, I proactively reached out to local veterinarians to build partnerships that connected our audience with trusted, expert guidance on pocket pet care.
Working alongside veterinary professionals, I helped transform medical topics into engaging, accessible social content, strengthening the rescue's role as both an adoption resource and an educational authority.

Strong community partnerships are one of the most meaningful ways to expand a nonprofit's reach. I proactively identify collaboration opportunities with local businesses, helping transform shared values into fundraising initiatives that benefit both the rescue and the community.
Pocket Pets & Oddballs Flash Tattoo Sale
One example was partnering with Battlefront Tattoo for a custom flash tattoo day. I collaborated on the event concept, created the branding and promotional campaign, and developed social media content before, during, and after the event to maximize awareness, attendance, and donations.

Not every post is designed to promote an adoption or fundraiser. Some of the most engaging content comes from meeting audiences where they already are. Why It Matters
Volunteering with Mainely Rat Rescue has become one of the most rewarding creative outlets of my career. It has challenged me to think beyond traditional marketing by balancing education, storytelling, fundraising, community building, and brand personality, all while supporting a mission I genuinely believe in.
